From the moment you step into Dan Good Foods, you are greeted by a friendly staff eager to make your dining experience unforgettable. With heartfelt pride in crafting authentic Southern cuisine, every dish is prepared with care and attention to detail. As one satisfied customer, Thomas Neudenberger, eloquently noted, "Amazing food for a reasonable price," and this sentiment resonates throughout the restaurant.
One of the highlights of Dan Good Foods is their diverse menu. Diners rave about the fried chicken sandwich, which not only boasts generous portions but also brings back memories of home-cooked meals from childhood. Angie Watkins recalls her experience, noting the “huge” sandwich paired with fries that reminded her of simpler times spent in diners. It's this nostalgic flavor and quality that keeps patrons returning.
But the culinary delights don't end there. For those seeking a heartier option, Megan Craig's family encountered a true delight with the schnitzel, which was so large that her husband couldn't finish his meal! It’s clear that every item on the menu is designed to satisfy not only hunger but also the soul. The dishes are generously portioned and utilize fresh ingredients, ensuring that diners leave feeling both content and eager to return.
The atmosphere at Dan Good Foods is equally enchanting, as exemplified by the intimate Wednesday night setting featuring live guitar music. The blend of delicious food and soothing melodies creates a unique dining experience that makes you feel right at home. As Melissa Pierce described, the Trout with Shrimp offers a creamy lemon sauce that transforms a simple dish into a memorable one.
Moreover, what truly stands out is the excellent customer service. It's not just about the food; it's about the entire experience. Guests have noted how attentive the staff is, with servers who genuinely care about making your visit enjoyable. The owner’s personal touch, engaging with diners and ensuring satisfaction, speaks volumes about the establishment's commitment to its patrons.
In short, Dan Good Foods at the Carriage House is more than just a restaurant; it’s a cherished spot that brings the community together. Whether you’re savoring their homemade pasta or enjoying a meal under the stars, you can be assured you're in for a treat that is both delicious and welcoming. Next time you're in Townsend, make sure to stop by this local favorite—you won’t be disappointed!
“ Amazing food for a reasonable price. They take pride in their southern food and the staff is very friendly. We were sitting outside enjoying some great Mountain views. I would definitely recommend this place and as a local point out that this is not a tourist trap but rather a cool place where locals go. ”
“ We pulled in on a whim and were not disappointed! They only had one server but she was so polite and the entire team worked to make sure we had a good experience. The food was delicious and fresh. Very cool art work on the walls too! I had the fried chicken sandwich which was huge! And the fires were so good!! Reminded me of fries when I was kid going to diners. ”
“ My family and I went to the Carriage House Restaurant today (3/31/2021) for dinner. We had just explored the cave down the road and were hungry so we ventured out and happened upon this restaurant. We’re from out of town and had never heard of this place prior to realizing it was one of the only places open in town lol At first, I was a little surprised by the prices BUT once we received our food, it was worth every penny! My husband got the schnitzel and it was ginormous- he couldn’t finish one of his sides (it comes with two) because he was actually full. My grandma and teenager split the Me Maw’s Chicken and both left stuffed. It came with two large breasts and two sides. My 5 year old also loved his kid’s nugget meal (hand cut and breaded). In his words “when I eat these nuggets, I feel like I’m in heaven!” My burger was great but I do wish it came with a side rather than adding it on (it was 13 for a burger and a side salad, which was actually quite large so not bad price). Service was absolutely great! Not only was our server attentive but the other two gentlemen working were also checking on our table. The owner even came out to chat with us before our meal came- her and her husband both work in the kitchen. Her husband came out after my grandma wanted her chicken cooked a little longer, discussed it with her and then promptly brought out her chicken himself cooked to her request. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!! I hope they stick around for others to enjoy! ”
“ The food was great. This is the Trout with Shrimp. It had like a creamy sauce on it with a hint of lemon. ”
“ I had the pasta with added shrimp and my husband had the pork chop dinner. It was nice and not crowded on a Wednesday night. A young lady was playing the guitar and singing. Our server was very sweet. ”
“ Let me say the service was fantastic there was apparently only one person working the whole front of house. And he did fantastic We did not need anything the whole time we were there he kept our drinks refilled he kept everything just as it should be. The food was really good I had the gardener pasta it was great. The kids meals are only 5 which I think is very well priced, we had the hamburger and it's a good size burger, and the chicken nuggets, which are hand breaded it seems like. The decor is very dated and quite frankly pretty odd. The restaurant however was clean. There is a store upstairs, I got a shirt!!! It's amazing!!! The whole family there is great!! You should go!!!! ”
“ My family was on vacation in Tennessee and we stayed in Townsend. This restaurant was just a few minutes from our cabin so we decided to try it out. We walked in at 7:30 and they close at 8 but the owner assured us that it was TOTALLY fine and to take as long as we needed. Food was AMAZING. Everything tasted fresh. We have two vegetarians with us and they had the Gardeners Pasta and loved it. Prices were just right and the service was amazing. The owner could not have been nicer. She even made my husband a dessert because he really wanted to try one although it was already 8:30. Our server Jason was a young high schooler and he was so polite and did such an amazing job. This place is under new ownership and totally renovated since July 2020. Would DEFINITELY recommend to anyone living here or coming through here! 10 out of 10; best place we’ve eaten at since being in Tennessee. ”
“ Several restaurants in the area where closed or not enough help! This place was a nice surprise, all young high school young men and women working together and so professional and polite. The mashed potatoes where the best ever and brisket and broccoli where cooked to perfection. ”
